Who's Who?

DARC at Upper Canada Village - June 2013

« large pic »
Ragnarr has some beads waiting to be traded for good silver. Elements of the bead makers trade are also visible on the table including crucibles, tongs, and a soapstone marver. The smaller bowl contains pieces representing different stages from bead production including tesserae, reticella, and broken beads. The leftmost bowl contains stones used for creating beads including jet, amber, carelian, and rock crystal. Prepared necklaces shaped to represent different time periods are on display as is a replica of a glass mug from Birka defining the level of wealth such a person could have commanded.
